damn I wish I’d built that ship right, seems I’m really gonna miss not having that Salvage tool on board
I’ve an asteroid field that is just over five minutes away It doesn’t have any of the resources on it I need, but it makes me feel better now I’m using ships to do something.
MR (Mega Recycler) = Cutter, DX-1, Cargo 10k, wreckage and Asteroid Mining Equip.
May not seem much, but with a medium cargo ship storing 50k and in good number can deplete a site quite nicely.
specifically look for fields of devastation in order to bring home from mining what I really need - Bunker bulges somewhat. lol
I’ve just started building a simple scavenger ship - Lancer with DX-1 engine + 2 x Salvage tools. When coupled with the spare cargo I have (Cutter with DX-1, 50K hold, and an attack laser) I should be able to grab a fair chunk of any wreckage I find
When I eventually get a Dock built I’ll change things around, but I fear there’s a few weeks of ‘make best use of what you’ve got’ before that happens :lol:
Much the same here, next build is Cutter with dx1, 3xmining lasers. to be sent with 50k cargo(s). then 3xsalvage, and in 2012 when i get a dock change all existing to match
*edit OK built the one with 3 mining lasers, fleet has gone from an estimated 218 per min to 288 per min, which is OK but less than I was expecting as I doubled the number of lasers in the fleet. Maybe there’s a baseline mining rate and each additional laser increments it rather than multiplies it.
*edit2 after the first hour actual rate is 268/min or 16000 per hour

I now have a corvette after several millennia of research, they are 33% more resilient than cutters, and have 20 cells - slightly underwhelmed. Anyhoo one big cargo, a DX1 and two salvage lasers later, I now have a pukka small recycler And lookie here, my first victim - 118000 titanium
Corvette research allows research of mass-transport, rated “heavy” which means it may finish before hades has a heavy frost…
