Ebay selling tips.

I’m about to pop my ebay sellers cherry  and was looking for some tips to make it go smoother. As i know there are some old hands at using ebay, I thought i would dip into your knowledge

So any tips for the seller virgin?

depending on the item…usually best for it to finish on a sunday I believe…

or if aimed at business people…or yuppies etc I think the recommended finishing time is about 11 monday morning…

I do believe eBay has tips on selling itself somewhere

ebay are selling themselves

j/k :stuck_out_tongue:

well here is the first http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=8813508578

Definitely aim the auction to finish on a Sunday night… or early week, not Friday or Saturday.
You get the best results if your buyer is drunk and at the keyboard when the auction is about to end

Also, put down as much of a description as you can, even state the obvious. Put everything that’s on the box and make it all sound great  , finally, i always find that its best to be completely honest about any visible damage etc, but add notes like “can easily be sorted out” or “replacements readily available” or that its in good condition for its age… That way your feedback stays good.

Avoid bank holiday weekends, everybody is away!
Also avoid free listing dates as ebay will be overrun with TAT!!!

Mid afternoon sunday is the best time provided you dont clash with Eastenders, the lottery or Coronation street.

I like to host my own pictures so I can open popups of HUGE pictures in a new window. Means I dont have to pay Ebay extra too.

You could always throw in the old chestnut of “No surcharge for Paypal” as an attention getter. Nobody is supposed to backcharge the paypal fees anyway but if the buyer thinks you are cheaper . . . . . .

be honest, very honest, allmost too honest. spend a long time working on your description, make sure that theres no spelin mistakes, and that you describe it in great detail, pay extra attention to the bad points so that the buyer knows your not trying to scam them. and lots and lots of pictures is allways a great start too, i bearly ever buy something with less than 5 pics so its definatly worth thinking about…
