With this new switch to BOINC coming soon, I wonder if I even want to keep going with the project. Is anyone else feeling this way???
The vast majority of my output is on stealth units at hospitals where I’ve been doing my residency training. I’m not at some of these hospitals any longer and switching those computers to BOINC will be impossible.
Who knows, maybe after a little break, I’ll get my home unit switched to BOINC.
What are your all’s thoughts about the switch to BOINC???

yes in Seti Classic there were a lot of people who are taking some tricks to get high stats, but when BOINC@Setiathome will start, these people are out:D
BOINC has a result Verification build in, so look here
As I said in another thread, this forum, Boinc is gonna be good when it matures. ATM its difficult to have races when we’ve all got several machines doing different DC things. Its too easy and feels a bit of a cheat to switch machines over just to win a particilar race.
Hopefully many DC projects will come join the Boinc fold and then credits will be credits whether Seti Astropulse, Folding etc Who knows, mebbe even LM.
DCing for me could be tricky once Seti 1 ends. Some of the PCs I have Seti 1 installed on are trickey to get back to. Plus P2/333’s are pretty carp for just about everything else. 1 WU every 11-16hrs from them for free is worth it. Dont know if its worth giving them anything more challenging.

It will be an interesting challenge just reinfecting everything with the new wares and finding ways to run it hidden etc.
In all fairness I like the fact that its only your home boxes that counts?(if i understod corectly:confused: ), and what timetable are we looking at for the switch, two to six weeks?

Thats broadly what they are saying but frankly their project planning track record doesn’t exactly get the 5 star award.
Ponder that there’s been no public beta yet. :flip:
Well I am glad LM came along. The cheaters and the end of seti1 turned me off the project. I was glad I got to 1000 wu with seti. I put my time in and loved it. LM crew is a very good bunch they listen very well to the members and jump on problems right away. It feels like seti did way back when… One big family. Hopefully the cheaters will leave LM be for a year or so.
As stated above, people that have seti 1 running on 10’s of 100’s of computers are going to find them selves in trouble. I personaly will not be bringing my systems over any time soon. I can see new client apps being updated or upgraded one or twice a week in the beginning just to work out the bugs. Thats to much updateing for me. Takes the fun out of it. I wounder what will happen when setidriver or seti watch can’t connect to the queues or seti servers anymore. All those people with stealth clients running will be getting seti errors on their system and not know what the hell they are.
