As some of you know from my job thread, I work in a hotel. A hotel that has a rather nice function room
If I was allowed to book it for a whole weekend for us to use for a meet-up, would you be interested? There are a few things I need to point out though
This would cost money to hire (at moment, no idea on the prices of function room hire) but obviously it would be a share each
I will ask about the possibility of people being allowed to sleep in the function room, but I wouldn’t be surprised if this was a no which would mean you would need a room in the hotel (or somewhere else I guess)
The hotel rooms aren’t your Travel Lodge prices, but do include breakfast and you could always share a twin room with someone to cut the cost a bit
There is a bar in the function room, but I doubt that we would be allowed a trust bar that our good friend Martin provided so once that bar shut, we would need to go through to the lounge bar for drinks provided by the night porter (that’s the job I do ;)) but they obviously have other jobs to do so wouldn’t be able to cater to us exclusively through the night
I’m not sure on being able to bring pc’s as there’s only a few double sockets dotted round the room with no where near the juice that we had at Mojo’s, so this could very well be a social gathering only
There is a cd player & amp in the room (good for the karaoke moments ;)) but otherwise entertainment would be up to ourselves to sort
Throughout summer & into September, there isn’t a lot of choice of weekends so if we wanted to book it you’d need to be flexible on what dates
Lunch & dinner can be had in the hotel/main bar too but this is at your own expense and it’s not McDonald’s prices/lack of quality I could however ask about the chef doing a bulk dinner for set price like Mojo did with the curries etc
I know it’s a pretty long list and that Mojo spoiled us but I want to highlight the main factors that come into play if we were to go ahead with this. Also, another quite major factor if my boss is agreeable to it happening - cash paid for your share of function room and deposit paid for any hotel rooms booked are non-refundable if you cancel, so please don’t say you’ll go if you don’t mean it.
There are probably other things I need to point out, but I can’t think at moment :rolleyes: Anyway, if you would be up for this, please post in this thread by Friday so that I know rough numbers to mention when I go into work Friday night. If you have any questions about it, please post in here too.

Count me as a maybe. As always depends on cost and timing. I have a lot of work travel ahead. Unless… I can get it sorted so I’m in the right place at the right time so work pays for me to be there

Yes I’m working locally, nothing exciting, also trying to get back into my old role, talking to a firm in Bracknell right now.
Haven’t been to visit because the devil, as is his habit, has once again vomited something into my kettle which has required my prolonged attention. Now that is pretty much resolved I must descend on you when you are not working and abuse your dried caffeine collection.
