Random computer crashes

My HP quad core is randomly crashing. When it does, it will not post, reboot nothing. Can’t even pop a cd into the drive and boot from that.

The only thing that I’ve found that fixes it is to reseat all of the memory. After doing that, it’s business as usual. This usually lasts 2-3 months before it crashes again and I have to reseat the memory again.

Any ideas on just what might be causing this?? All of the memory tests that I’ve run show the memory to be working with no problems. Oh, and it runs BOINC 24/7.

I had that one a few years back, I simply ran an eraser along the contacts of the memory and then used a fine artists paint brush to clean out the board contacts in the memory slots. Since then, not a blip.

Probably something completely different, but worth a try

DT.

Thanks DT. I’ll try to keep that in mind for the next time it crashes.

If that doesn’t work, get a new Power Supply. I have replaced several in systems of late because of no boot/rebooting for no reason.

I tryed the Rubber thing. Just rub the contacts with a e eraser
