Slimline SATA Drive

I’ve just ordered a slimline SATA drive and as it’s an OEM drive, I need to supply my own cable (right?).

However do they take normal SATA connectors or a different one?

Correct on supply your own. A SATA cable is a SATA cable is a SATA cable. All the same.

Ok, but how do I power it?

I’ve seen this cable on Linitx.com (while I was trying to find my molex to 4 pin ATX cable) and it appears to be SATA+ power.

That actually looks like a SAS cable - usually yellow with power + data all integrated. Placidsheep’s link is what you need. I would think anyone who builds computers should have these lying around - I have a half dozen. Ask in Watto’s.

I went for the Linitx one as I only have a floppy power socket spare (and I KNOW I can add a molex splitter but with the amount of cables in the small case, less cables and that would require a splitter off a splitter…)

Curse the manufacturer that only puts an 20 pin ATX, molex and FDD power connector in the case!
