Sont and IBM have joined together to create an ultra-fast system-on-a-chip processor that could develop into a potential successor to the x89 PC architecture. the processor is called Cell and might initially be used in the next genaration playstation ( ps3?) before finding its way into workstation or server sytems. according to early reports from sony and IBM, a cell processor system configured in a one-rack server platforms fast enough to put it in 6TH!!!
