13.6 Ghz lost!!

A sad day arrived at the beginning of the week, my test bench at work was condemmed to be the scrap heap. As our tech support dept have now got a new test farm we’ve been told that we don’t need one. So someone not to far away from me (meow!! here kitty kitty!!) has lost some help in the region of 13.8G’s of horses.

What we did have:
2x 1.7Ghz P4
2x 2.4Ghz P4
3x 866Hz P3
3x 600Hz P3
1x 1.2Ghz P3 mobile (IBM lappy)

Ouch! :frowning:

‘Ouch’
Tell me about it…
Have to enlist help elsewhere BJ or it’s :bondage: for you…

Wowser. I feel for you BJ & Augmented.
Define scrap heap, perhaps some salvage operations are in order

Well the “scrap heap” means they’ll be re-deployed around the office or customers depending on spec. Oh well we’ll see what other plans I can come up with. Anyone know where I can find a real good idiots guide to setting up setihide so I can try and set it up elsewhere hidden/stealthed?? Cheers

Setihide is cool. I run it on all my work and home machines. There’s nearly no overhead and the logging & caching is superb.

Not much to setting it up. Just put the CLI & Setihide in the same directory, run the CLI manually first time, install seti hide and it will take over the CLI operation. If you run it totally hidden, you need to delete the file seti_hide_is_hidden from the \files sub dir to view progress or change settings.

No problem, just download a suitable size cache. Then change the settings either to offline or autodetect. If autodetect it will automatically do the biz next time you dial up. If offline, then you need to dial up then go into seti hide and tell it to connect.

Yup & Yup in that order. You may of course notice the download activity if you’re browsing hard. Also it takes 1-2 mins on line before it kicks in and starts to upload/download so it probably won’t activate on a quick email send/receive.

Oh – On the settings page there is a bit at the bottom that says ‘more options’. Click the ‘edit’ and tick the slow internet connection option otherwise it will try to download/upload 4 WUs at a time.

Oh, and you can set it to access a setiqueue proxy server if you want rather than direct to Borkely.

Ooops Mrs B is informing me of the time.

Ah well this time hide it in some directory within program files called something or other important sounding.

My 2p’s worth…I have got my little farm, well more of a small paddock than a farm really, all running Setihide for a while now, and it works a treat. Mr Balrog’s instructions are the money!
