I was going to write a longer, more soppy history of how he has got to where he is now, literally on the top of the world - it’s not my story though. My story has been watching him work as hard as he has, with the dedication and belief. My story is being there for the ups and the downs and at the start, making sure he had the equipment to “play”. That is something we decided on at a early stage, he does play - but when his playing, we always saw it as working. He was working towards his dream.
He made the choices, we backed him up - he made the mistakes, we picked him up. He has had some true heartache along the way and some experiences that will be unforgettable, but to get to where he has now is something we are so proud. When the phone started going mental when he won, I couldn’t speak.
It’s taken a little while to post this - there are no real words that can describe how it felt watching him lift the trophy (with a huge hangover - nothing new there)
In a few days time, once he has been home and recovered from the three weeks away - there’s a chance, a slim chance, that for once when we go out for a meal I can forget my wallet! (I’ll remember the 20% off voucher I have though, I’m not that mean)
