AMD AM2 Athlon 64 5000 - £222.38

are there any mobos around that can take (and make use of) 2 of these?

Regular A64s are single socket only. To go multi you still have to go opteron.

This is a bit odd, they slash prices of their latest chip release but not the older stuff:confused:

how is this for a bargain http://www.lowestonweb.com/Products/DisplayInfoMain.asp?e=59908737-FD77-46CB-9487-370E334EB1E9

3800+ X2 £123.61

That is an extremely good deal. If I bought one when I’m over there I can even claim the VAT back.

only going to get cheaper, only going to get cheaper <-repeat until paid rather than credit card buying

Wattos shop time

DT.

But isn’t this better??

It’s a 3800+ as X2 as well, but Socket AM2, and is quite a lot cheaper.

I am trying to decide what to buy for my new machine right now and if these prices are this low I might as well get one of these:

4200+ X2 2.2GHz Socket AM2 1MB for £125.01

It seems to me that the extra power is worth the extra £25, but the 4600+ for £159.95 is not so much much worth the extra.

Would you agree? Should I look at the new Intel Core Duos as well? Would I have to wait for a price drop on either AMD or Intel coming soon?

What do you think I should get or do??

I just bought 2 3800 X2 939 on dabs for £109 each  Last upgrade for my 939 boards to make them last out
