Anyone know anything about Roller Blades?

Siciliana and I have got a matching set of Fila Roller Blades, we bought them in a hurry and in a high street shop with little choice.

Looking around these seem to be the ‘aggresive’ style of skates, all hard plastic outer, really tough, and a kind of sock type thing inside for putting your feet in. Needless to say these are rather unflexible, and because you can’t bend the outer plastic, have to be laced and latched VERY tight to stop your foot wobbling around inside.

Looking around at others when we go skating, they usually have ‘recreational’ skates which seem more normal boots, with the skate part moulded around the boot, these look

  1. More comfy
  2. Easier to use

Siciliana is just starting and needs practice, but is finding it hard to pick up, I was wondering wether a switch to a ‘recreational’ boot would be a good idea. What the trade off between the 2 are, and wether they are easier to use.

Any help appreciated.

Bought some Salomon Motion 7’s at the weekend, lovely!!!

If buying roller blades, get Salomons they are most definitely the most comfortable. Als tried Fila and Rollerblade, but Salomon are tops.

EDIT: Should also say that we both came a cropper Sat

Been soooooo long since roller skating I couldn’t tell you.

However you are still strapped to shoes that have freely moving wheels on the bottom. So it’s never going to be the esaiest thing. Most Important I think is a tightly strapped boot so your foot doesn’t flop around.

If you have that control you can slightly incline the shoes inwards which helps overall stability.

Give it a go. Take a video, does Jeremy Beadle still give you 250 quid?

I’ve come a cropper 4 times to Siciliana’s 2… Take form that what you will.
