Banger drivers head for Sahara

Part-timers :stuck_out_tongue: 2am every day here now :flip:

MrTFWitt, does your avatar picture scroll “TFW”, or “WFT”? Either way, it’s mesmerizing.

I like to think that TFW and WTF are evenly applicable depending on events

Well i’m all set.

I’lll be at TFW Labs before 6pm on the 27th.

Time for a final equipment check ???
Hope nobody’s forgotten anything.

:rotate: :rotate: :rotate: :rotate:

Sarge.

Cracking Christmas Pressie m8 :thumbsup: :nod:

I should be there 2-3pm to install satnav and pack my gear in.

Should have the brakes done before you lot turn up, I have a day free tomorrow to finish fettling the van.
Brakes, Spotlights and second battery with charger are my objectives during the three hours of daylight we get at this time of year.

Insurance Green card hasn’t arrived but will probably turn up on Tuesday.

REMEMBER
Passport
Yellow Fever Certificate

Anything else we have forgotten can be bought on the way but these two are show stoppers

If I don’t get a chance to ‘speak’ to you 3 before, I hope you have a fantastic adventure and will miss you lots round here :cry:

Adventurous slackers for sure, and for a worthy cause to boot! :wave: I hope my small contribution makes a difference. Keep the chips & soda away from Jon, he will add a couple stone on for sure! :eek:

And finally good luck to Pinkie! Hope you run smooth. :nod:

Thanks All.

My budget for this is limited so i’m doing this on a shoestring.

Injections = done ( all 6 of them )
Yellow Fever Cert = Sorted
Passport = Sorted
Mauritanian Visa = Sorted

Immodium Pills and re-hydration salts = packed
My Prescription = Packed
Malarone Tablets = Packed
Batteries = Packed
Torch = Packed
PMR Radios = Packed
Clothes / New Boots = Packed
Misc Items = Packed.
Sleeping Bag = Packed
2 x Pillows = Packed
LARGE PACK (12 rolls ) OF TP = Packed

Trying to bring only essentials as space will be limited, so i have one bag for clothes and stuff and a box for consumables for use on the way.

Just saw Michael Palins sahara again this morning, this episode covered an area which we are travelling on this trip, and i now have concerns about a sump / fuel tank guard, also another spare tyre and maybe some tyre levers…
The ground which they covered looked like the lunar surface consisting of sharp boulders about the size of your fist. May have to get something fabricated on the way by a ‘local indiginous gentleman’.
I AM VERY CONCERNED ABOUT THIS NOW.

:confused: :confused: :confused: :confused:

Sarge.

Yup 9:30 tomorrow its a must see.
Pinky has reasonable ground clearance so loose stones are not a huge risk its only the ones which the tyres kick up we have to worry about. Keeping the speed down keeps those manageable.
If we need spare wheel/tyre levers etc we’ll pick them up in Europe, for now I’m like a kid going to Disneyland for the first time - LETS GO!!!

Clothes - check
Food - check
Satnav - check
Medication - check
Injections - check
Visa - check
Passport & money - check
Certificate - check
Travel insurance - check
Sleeping bag - check
Tools, stove, torches & odds & sods - check

Ready :slight_smile:

LMAO that a 3/8 inch ya tart.:eek: WOnder where those damn fractional sizes started ! :lol:

You’re Sh1tt1ng me !!

Thats Bad - like real bad.

Suggest we buy tyre levers and a spare tyre enroute.

And yes 9.525mm = 3/8 of an inch which is commonly available.

:frowning: :frowning: :frowning: :frowning:

Sarge.

That number i pm’d you a while back, perhaps he could help… if he has one i could collect and meet you at bottom of M25 if necessary.

pm’d again :slight_smile:

Could we not just nick one from the next Chevy Van we meet pirate style? :wink:

lmao… i can imagine that, on the run too :lol:

That would be the Moroccan food then :wink:

You’re gonna need a bigger grill :wink:

“All his kit” being all the stuff I was asked to bring by the other two :stuck_out_tongue:
I only have one big bag and that’s even got my sleeping bag in.

So to paraphrase

“Up yours m8” :wink:

Let’s hope it doesn’t displace any of the beer! :drink:
