Banger drivers head for Sahara

If they can make it back from the desert, they could donate the car to charity at Giveacar.co.uk to top up funds raised!

Giveacar.co.uk collect scrap or otherwise unwanted cars for free and turn them into cash for the charity of your choice.

Donate a scrap car to charity at Giveacar.co.uk…

You are welcome to go and fetch two (three at a push) of mine

One has no reverse gear
One has no electricity
One has no cooling system

How big are the boots you need to fill ?

seems like a good idea to me and charitable, so for once, I’ll let a very obvious SEO link post stand

DT.

I was looking for one of DT’s charity rally events.

Didn’t you go somewhere in a Jaaaaaag ?
One with an exploding cooling system…

that would be “getyourbangersout” that I did :joy:

I don’t think it runs anymore though, last I heard they were considering doing the NC500, but haven’t heard anything since then.

DT.

Ahh yes, the “You’ve been Tango’d” one

Rimmer brothers now stock the unobtainable expansion tank for that

Somebody else took a DAF on a banger rally, a slightly smaller one

Just before Kartong was our lodge for the day, Equator Lodge or as the locals call it: Tamba Kuruda. This lodge is a former Amsterdam-Banjul Challenge camp and here and there you can still find silent witnesses of it. Like an old army DAF YA-126, built in 1951-59 with a fat petrol engine that runs 1 in 3 on normal roads. Useless and partly cannibalised, the terrain giant was rusting away between the trees. No matter how well-intentioned it may have been, these types of vehicles have 0.0 utility in The Gambia, or Africa in general. It is an exotic for which there are no parts and which are simply too expensive to drive given their thirst.
