my norton AV has has run out. any suggestions.

(heard good things about avast too but can’t vouch for it myself)
for paid for versions, I’d go avast but for free I’d go with AVG. Interface means a lot and there just isn’t something quite right with avast free.

Been using AVG for a while. Tried others (free and not quite free) but always found myself back at AVG. You might be able to get “internet security” software (inc AV) for free if you do online banking or even from ISP so worth looking up.
I have to say that i’m not that impressed with AVG, it let me down badly on my daughters PC, fully updated yet it still allowed her computer to become infected with a rather nasty msn virus that had been knocking around for a while.
Although it could find the virus it was unable to do anything about it.
Uninstalled AVG and put on the AOL front ended Kaspersky one thats free and it killed the virus and has been working well ever since.
Unfortunately AOL have pulled that now as they realised the world and his wife had caught on to the fact that it was free and brilliant and now they have changed to a AOL fronted Mc Donalds (ok Mcafee) version and i’d be hard pushed to recommend that :eek:
Avast Free is fine here.
I may upgrade to a paid for subscription in the future…
I say avast also, did use AVG for a long time, untill i installed avast and it found 3 nasties which avg didn’t
using Avast free here at the mo.
