I went to look at some new turntables yesterday as I want to replace my Numark TTX1s. I’d originally planned to get a pair of Technics 1200mkg:
In the pic they look great but in the metal they look sooo cheap and tacky. The gloss finish really does nothing for them. Had a play and they felt just as good as the standard mk5 1210/1200 and it was nice to have double pitch range etc. But they just felt like such a waste of cash over the standard one.
As a result I’ve talked myself into getting a pair of 1200 or 1210 mk5s but I can’t decide which I like more:

1210mk5
Normally I would have gone with the silver 1200 but my mixer (vestax pcv 275) is gold in colour and I’m wondering if the silver next to this will look a bit nasty.
What colour do you guys reckon?

1210 mk5 looks nicest although they all play and sound pretty much the same don’t they?
yeah they all play/sound/feel exactly the same. That’s one of the reasons I’ve talked myself out of the mk5g.
If I had a silver or black mixer I’d get the 1200 but I’m thinking that the 1210 will look better in my setup.
checkout this picture. This is the same mixer I have and this dude has the 1200s. Doesn’t look as bad as I thought it would but I think it’s helped lean a little more to the 1210.

My buying the 1210 depended on my auction on my remaining TTX1 which finished last night. Excellent I thought but wait, despite the description saying in several places UK only delivery the guy that won is in Australia!!! More to the point he doesn’t reply to email :rolleyes:
