Blank DVD media

Where do people order theirs from?

I have just got a DVD writer and want to burn some DVDs. I recall there being a discussion about this a while back but I ignored it as it did not affect me at the time.

Have people any preferences about DVD+ or DVD-, any brand work better etc.

Any advice welcome.

I tend to use www.bigpockets.co.uk. Prices aren’t bad and they are pretty quick with delivery.

  • are supposed to be ‘more compatible’ with standalone boxes but the media are more expensive.

I get my media from a local store for local people because they sell me what I want at a competitive price, which is DVD-R with Ritek G4 dye. Not had any compatibility problems with a range of players (yet).

Try SVP for starters…

Mulda good choice.

I have used SVP quite a few times for cds and dvd’s.

They are reliable and very quick.

A typical example is I ordered on Thursday and they delivered on Saturady, thats a standard postage, nowt fancy.

Prices are good too.

I go for the Red Datawrite ones that are X4 speed.
Cheap as chips for a spindle of 25.
Works out to around 60p a dvd.

Buy a bulk load and save on P&P, thats over £300 worth only.
Check out your mates and you will be suprised what savings can be made on bulk orders. Spread the savings and good karma around.

I have used SVP too. Yep they are pretty good.

What I said about Bigpockets, please disregard. I made an order with them on Wednesday. The payment processing system said everything was Ok. Got another page from Bigpockets thanking me for the order but then showing below that there was a problem with the payment. Sent email to Bigpockets to find out if order had gone through or not. Got reply saying that I should phone their number. Replied saying that I didn’t want the extra expense of having to phone them. Got an auto response and heard nothing since. Good customer service? I think NOT!!! A friend has also had problems ordering from their website so it looks like there is a major problem somewhere.
