DNS Settings

Hi;

does anyone know a way of changing the dns server settings on a windows 2000 box via the command line?
Long story short the whole thing is screwed where it hasn’t done a windows update for nearly 8 years, and so desperately needs one, everything is locked down apart from command line, and so cannot change it the normal way (or even log in as a administrator)
been searching through the registry and found a key in services/tcpip/parameters/interfaces where to put it, but doesn’t seem to help.

cheers y’all!

Can’t you log in under Safe Mode and make the changes?

Droid : would love to be able to, but this is a Point of sale machine, that is hundred odd miles away :frowning:
PMM, i did see this the other day, but my go is it a little OVER complicated! will give it another go! thanks for the response!

AHHHh HAAAAAA < ---- ALT + Return gives a permissions error. BUUUUT ALT + Enter works fine, jobs a good-un!

First do a IPCONFIG /all to get the info…the do IPCONFIG /RELEASE

Now sort out using the PMM link.

Then do a IPCONFIG /RENEW (DON’T REBOOT between the reset with command lines changes)

I had this once and well it was easier talking a person thru it then doing the command line.
