Cheers, I got to 5K lol. Does anyone know whats better for GPU FAH, Xp or vista as ive been trying windowns 7 with FAH but not too sure if its helping or not.

XP or Vista should be the same , as its the Cuda application that does the processing and afaik its the same for both (Nvidia GPU driver differences may affect it more) . the only real difference is that XP uses a lot more of the processor resources to service the GPU - nearly a whole core as opposed to around 10-25% of a core for Vista.

There is very little difference in output under Linux, the only benefit is that the software is free , but you can only GPU fold under Linux with a lot of jiggery pokery (widows GPU application running under WINE using a CUDA wrapper.) I have two systems doing this , but it’s a bit high maintenance , every time you update the kernel you have to recompile the Nvidia driver , it only takes a few minutes , but it can be a bit of a pain. also the overclocking has less flexibility - no separate shader overclocking .

Well i got Windows vista, Going awhole lot better then windows 7. Just installing things now, What Free programs are there to inprove your system for GPU folding ?

Only overclocking utilities like Riva Tuner , but I think you’ve been there already.

Ive Installed a Vista ulimate 32-bit And have the seti on CPU and FAH on GPU and the Nvida driver, But on windows 7 it took 3:30 mins to do 1%, Now its about 7mins on 1%, when i first installed it was faster on vista it was 3 mins then i installed all windows updates and installed rivatuner and now slower, Any ideas ?

There are some slow GPU units out there , 511 points each (project 5749 - 5756), on my 9800GX2 for a one percent slice the difference between a fast WU and a slow one is 58 secs (46 seconds for project 5766) opposed to 1min 45 secs . so the proportions are similar

Edit : I was about 30% and i OCd the graphics card up abit, The driver then crashed but came back, The project cancaled And i got another one, But Its another slow one. Does that mean ive lost the points ? OCd it back now.

Yes , you’ve lost the points although sometimes you get partial points ,
as for an unresponsive system , it’s more likely to be a BOINC project than GPU Folding , reduce the processing percentage in your preferences .

Maybe, But when i pause the GPU folding, evething it fine and does not take ages to load or open something etc. Cheers for the help mortlake. And lukcy i looked and i got about 100 points for that 30% i did.
