Getting excited now, new laptop should be arriving Monday

:woot:

Treated myself to a new Dell laptop, picked Dell so I can use my existing docking stations more than anything else.

It’s better travelled than I am !!

Could have simply come over with the next batch of ‘skilled’ workers from there

you’d be up and running by now

a political comment on here???

Isn’t that ban worthy

Which model DT?

Latitude E6420
i5-2520M
1600x900 display
8Gb ram
120Gb SSD (that’s already here)
Dedicated Nvidia 4200M 512Mb graphics

Nice machine! I like the i5 processor.

48 cuda cores on a laptop GPU  I wonder what they will be doing  especially as they threw in pro business support.

it’s like Christmas in March

was here when I got the office at 10am

Nice build feel, I like the metal casing rather than the plastic. BUT, one of the corners of the bezel surrounding the keyboard is loose and as it’s new, there’s a service engineer coming to look at it tomorrow. Beck says I’m being picky, but having spent this much I feel entitled to be picky.

DT.

Plastic bezels aint what they used to be, you do right to be picky

I’d ask for a full refund too

It’s only a clip in thin piece of plastic so should take 2 minutes to fit. Dead easy

that’s what I thought, but the corner in question doesn’t have any screws to tighten, and has a card slot of some nature - double sided sticky pad would fix it, but I’ve paid for a fit for purpose laptop.

Going to make a point of having the 6 HP laptops I have with enough parts between them to make 2 working all over the desk tomorrow

A new base and a new top bezel fitted, problem solved. I have to say, the support, the engineer and service was outstanding for one of the big firms.

Phone call this morning, be there between 12 and 3, 12:30 turns up with parts required to fix, replaced them and all is good. I’m impressed.

DT.

Awesome develop experience, I like the steel covering rather than the nasty. BUT, one of the sides of the frame around the laptop key pad is reduce and as it’s new, there’s a service professional arriving to look at it the next day. Beck says I’m being fussy, but having invested this much I experience eligible to be fussy.
