Glastonbury - So Far

Been watching sessions during the day and so far…

Rita Ora…Mmmm OK, but didn’t do it for me. Nice tunes, but not too exciting

Jake Bugg - Was looking forward to this session, but started out depressing and didn’t get anymore exciting. Basic acoustic set with no excitement generated. Real shame as I like his songs, but need the paddles to jumpstart him I feel.

Seasick Steve - Excellent blues music. Not the most energetic or lively set, but the music more than made up for it.

Professor Green - Good at getting the crowd up and at 'em, great dance and dubstep toons, with a bit of white rapping but a good set nonetheless

Foals- First session I’ve seen of them (not seen much of them meself - fullstop). Good tunes very reminiscent of U2 and Radiohead. Well constructed tunes from great musicians but lyrically indiscernible. Would like to read up on them to check out the lyrical side of the music.

Chic - Top billing for me. Excellent musicianship from Nile Rigers and the band and vocals from the girls (ladies) excellent (was not aware that they wrote songs for Diana Ross and Sister Sledge!). Great set featuring all the classic tunes and more besides.

Arctic Monkeys - Been watching them since 2005. A great set featuring songs from the current album and from the originals as well. Excellent!!

As always too much to watch, but the BBC are doing a great job of providing a diverse selection of music to suit my tastes. Want to see some of the Folk music side of things and also the Dance/Trance/Electronica tents as well. Need to get my funk on!! :chuckle:

What’s your favourites at Glastonbury this year?

Another interesting day today, but didn’t have as much time to watch Glasto as I would have liked, but what I did like was The Strypes from Cardiff. Crossover between the early Beatles/The Who and Dr Feelgood. Not easy to categorize, but musically excellent from these 4 guys who look about 12 years old.

On the ambient front The Orb & Kakatsitsi played a great chill-out set featuring tracks from OOBE and their Ricky Lee Jones sample of Little Fluffy Clouds all combined with an African beat. Great to chill too.

On a dance perspective Rudimental treated us to a one-song (not one-hit  ) session that pleased the crowd and got me tapping my toes. Great energy and nice to see a group actually enjoying what they are doing.

Besides them the stand out band for me was Two Door Cinema Club. An excellent set and a great tune selection from this accomplished band.

Watched Noah and the Whale, but I just can’t see the fascination myself. I’m sure a lot of people like them, but I was just bored. Still waiting for the Rolling Stones set later on, well who wouldn’t

Cheers for the updates Droid.

I had forgotten Seasick Steve (despite the fact he could be a VIZ character).

Much of yesterday evening was spent on YouTube revisiting Seasick Steve
