I have never placed a bet before apart from the office sweepstake and I never won on that either.
However this year I have decided to skip the lottery for a few weeks and stick a bet on tomorrows race.
Taking the view that studying form, runners, riders has failed to put the Bookies out of business I decided the lucky dip approach was the best way to pick a possible winner.
Using the BBC listing of runners I picked a number from 1 to 40 and did an online bet with William hill

Just saw results on news. The horse I (randomly) picked died.
Its sad when the horses get injured but they spend their entire life preparing to be raced, this is a possible outcome.
Could be worse, if this race was called Le National Grand all the losers would get eaten.
