Pi$$y little bleed nipples.
Just been out helping my son bleed the brakes on his 214. Stooopid little 8mm AF nipples with a 2.5mm hole down the middle leaving very little meat in the body. There’s one nipple I can’t/daren’t shift. Just know its going to shear leaving the car totally unuseable, needing a new wheel cylinder after what should be simple routine maintenance.
Thing that really gets me is that I’ve been struggling with these things since my first Mini (1963 vintage). Its exactly the same design.
5mm fine thread critical to safety, soak it in brake fluid (not the best lubricant and hydroscopic to boot) put it behind the wheel right where all the mud & salt gets thrown at it, heat it up to god knows what temperature during heavy braking, leave to marinade for a year then expect it to work freely.
Hmm, feeling better now.
Didn’t get any sh!t or air out of the other 3 cylinders so guess we’ll just leave it alone and face the problem next year.
