got a friends pc and it only boots as far as windows welcome screen where the little blue squares go along the bottom and then after that the screen goes black the cursers there and you can move the arrow around the screen thats as far as it gets 
it boots up fine in safe mode though.
any ideas please

got a gut feeling promoted by a similar problem at the last job, remove all the graphics drivers and reboot then reinstall…

See if you can get to System Restore from Safe Mode.

keep forgetting about sys restore…lol
is it onboard graphics, and does it have tv-out. I’ve had a similiar one where it defaulted to tv-out :lol:
A complete removal of graphics drivers whilst in safe mode, then back into normal mode and new hardware detected wizard :xfinger:
