Anyone use this satellite?
Am looking at getting on it for the Italian channels for Siciliana.
Have SKy already. have been quoted £300 for FTA or £340 to include Pay to view channels.
Really after the cheapest way to get the ITalian channels. Is it worth keeping sky or ditching it?
Theres at least six Hot Bird transmitters up there and loads of free channels to choose from.

What hardware do you need to get these channels ?
SKY gets right on my nerves with expensive channels AND flaming adverts every 10 minutes
The guy that quoted me £300 sayd I need a whole new dish and LNB. Looking around I’ve found dishes with dual LNB’s to get both hotbird and sky, however I would expect them to have to point to the same satellite to get any reception, and they are a bit different. So I dunno.
But seems like new dish and receiver.
I think thats a fine time to start trawling ebay

Hmmm both for less than £150
Might not be the right dish but I’m sure the chap selling the receiver can advise what dish you need.

If you want a cheap satellite, try Telstar 11.
The polite version is its going to be deorbited soon.
The real version is burn baby burn, within 2 months.
Thats what happens when you run out of manouvering fuel.
BTW Camelot (UK lottery) is on that satellite at the mo

We use it so Teresa can get the Italian channels among others. No problem setting it up (in Germany and Spain) and a good choice of channels.
I don’t know why but I never did manage to find the Astra signals.
My family in England like Sky for the sport.
I’m very happy with Eurosport on Cable. Been watching lots of snooker recently.

The dish is a sky one, which seems to be as far as I can tell universally accepted as NOT being able to pick up hotbird. Need a slightly bigger one apparently.
The box looks good though, sounds like the one the £300 guy was talking about, if I can pick up a dish for £50 I can halve my costs.
Good find TFW
