Imported Vehicle

I recently purchased an imported 2013 BMW 116i M Sport but the CO2 emissions rating is missing on the V5C. The car has valid MOT and is taxed however my TAX is £378 p/a (CO2 emissions is stated as 0) instead of the advertised £200. Emissions are supposed to be around 134g/km.

Does anyone know how I can get that updated? Can I request a full MOT inspection with CO2 emissions rating and submit that to the DVLA?

Have a go at this, you may need to wave your COC at the DVLA

Where was the car first registered ?

Oh, I hope you haven’t driven into London with it.

A wander through a Low Emission zone could cost you £300 per day

Low Emission Zone (LEZ)

](Low Emission Zone - Transport for London) #### £300 a day

Where it operates:

Central and Greater London. The M25 is not in the zone - check a postcode or location

Charging times:

24 hours a day, 7 days a week, every day of the year.

A charging day runs from midnight to midnight. You can pay by midnight on the third charging day after you travel or up to 90 days in advance.

It is an EU spec sold in Japan and imported to the UK at the end of last year.

It is ULEZ compliant which is weird considering the CO2 emissions states 0.

The vehicle details are sketchy so I need to get everything sorted out.

That’s an expensice CoC, I have contacted BMW to check if I can get one for free but the VCA has it on their list so surely I could get them to update it to that?

Can you used the “My BMW” app to get the full vehicle info?

There are BMW VIN decoders, these should then give you the full build spec, down to the tiny details of the trim and colours. You can then update the V5C at a post office I think.

Thanks, I’ve tried the app but my car is not supported, probably too old or because it doesn’t have an internet connection in the car.

try the VIN decoder here

Thanks DT, I checked that and numerous other VIN decoder websites but there is limited build information only. I did a full Car Vertical check before I purchased it which had limited information as well as the car was only registered here late last year.

I have emailed BMW as well as the DVLA, hopefully they will simply match it with the same EU spec that they have on record.

Another weird thing is the power is recorded as 2kw on the DVLA website. Obviously incorrect, it’s 95 although quite a bit more now with my Stage 1 tune

CO and nitrites are what they hit us on in the States for emissions control. I don’t think they even check for CO2 here. Otherwise we would get taxed for every breath we exhale.

2013 - with it being petrol i think it was euro 3 that have to meet for ulez and caz stuff, diesels have to be euro 6 for a lot of them :frowning:

Based on 134g/km the tax should be £200,

but this being a import from japan i think they tax them at a flat rate which is why i think it is £378 is correct, that seems about the rate they charge for the elgrand we have

same with classics in some cases, if there is no reported number - the highest one is assumed

They like to make things easy don’t they….

I believe Euro4 is ULEZ compliant however my car is Euro5.

I’m going to try and sort it out with the DVLA. Hopefully sanity will prevail

I am happily Blatting through ULEZ zones in 20 year old car with Euro4 compliance Mitsubishi, the only difference being it was sold in the UK rather than imported.
