does the wireless card in the laptop have it mac adress entered into the router ?

mate of mine had a similar issue… and the router wasn’t assigning a default gateway via DHCP - so he could ping the router, but had no net access.

tried statically assigning ?

DHCP Client List is showing the lappy’s mac address

belkin router g+ if that helps

ipconfig /all

will show the NIC’s default gateway, if there is one

this is the result

hmmm looks okay to me tbh… but then I don’t know vista lol

at least that’s ruled out the default gway / dns stuff by the look of it.

what are the results from:-
ping 192.168.2.1
ping 212.58.253.70
ping www.bbc.co.uk (this should do a dns lookup to the above ip  )
tracert www.bbc.co.uk

DNS is broke, try getting the dotted decimal DNS server address from the router/gateway and manually configuring the adapter with a valid address, router as default gateway, router as primary DNS and your router’s DNS server as secondary DNS server

aye, DNS is the culprit

I’ve manually set the DNS servers on my PC to
primary - router
secondary - 208.67.222.222 (opendns)

cheers space boy it worked will see how it works for a while
