So you buy your little HP 510 photo printer for your digital camera, and stick the driver CD in your Vista laptop.

Mr CD Installer says “:nono: Wrong operating system version - please download the appropriate software from the Internet”.

HP.com here I come - aah yes here we go downloads - HP510 - Vista - 32 bit… yup down she comes 100Mb of Vista-certified goodness.

Start her up…wait…wait…

BSOD

The one and only BSOD I have seen on Vista (and I have four copies running on very diverse new and old hardware) - courtesy of those nice people at HP - who I think are Microsoft Certified We Loves Ya Business Partners, not some Taiwanese outfit using an Indian code factory.

I’m beginning to think all M$ products are coded to randomly produce the BSOD for purely nostalgic purposes. Either that or it’s a running gag in someone’s cubicle.
