London - Work and Commuting

I know a few TPR members are based in and around London so I was wondering if anyone could offer some advice.

I was offered a job today in London that I’ve accepted. Job location is close to Goodge Street station (so fairly central London if I’m right?) I was considering living outside London and commuting in but potentially living in London.

I was wondering what sort of prices I’m looking at in terms of cost (both in trains fares for regular travel and rent). Anyone got any ideas? My mates at the company appear to be paying ~£550-600 a month for a shared house in London.

If I remember correctly, Goodge Street was pretty close to Kings Cross, and therefore the Thameslink line out to Hertfordshire (of course, thats no use if you are living South or West)

Yeah, we looked at some houses today in Barnet next to the New Barnett station and a direct line to Kings Cross at certain times (other times it heads to Moorgate)
