Microsoft defeated in European anti-trust ruling.

Microsoft anti-trust ruling

YES!!!

I honestly think this sort of ruling will be beneficial for everyone, including Microsoft. Competition is healthy even for M$, and I think their products have suffered from their own efforts which have eliminated competition. Hopefully, this will force a leveling of the playing field, which should ultimately lead to better coding and better products from everyone. Yes, I’m being unrealistically optimistic

They’ve got to appeal yet, at least one more level or European Beaurocrats to get through before the ruling stands.

They have a special version with all the stuff taken out…but guess what nobody is buying it or installing it … The issue is will someone step up to create the better tools that were pulled out (FREE stuff), and give them away or at low cost…and will the open source movement get moving? I think when MS can see someone building it better they step up and build it better…the key is to hold them accountable for the building/refreshing of software. The rules won’t help to strip stuff out so maybe someone will put something in…it needs to be someone builds it better, and wake the sleeping giant. I think that it will help to move others faster, but the window for profits are so small when MS can just simply say here it is a X that does what Y was doing, and you can download it for free…

The risk in building software is finding what MS doesn’t do period…why risk capital for such a small market. One other thing is if the strip it out why then are people loading it up with the missing parts from MS?

I think people just need to not buy it when they see it working badly. I use what works because it works. I use other MP3 software, burner software, but I also use MS OFFICE and VB/ .NET to make a living, why because my clients all do…and it works!
