Microsoft Outlook files

The hard drive crashed in my computer at home. We have been using Outlook to handle all email (Overkill I know). Tried to repair the windows install, but still will not boot from the drive. I’ve been able to pop the drive into a computer at work and can access the drive that way.

My question is what are all the files that I need to recover so when a new drive is stuck in the computer that I can get as much of our email contacts, messages etc. Oh, and then how do I go about the process on the new drive.

Oh, and it’s Outlook 2003 that we have been using.

Edit:

Got a new rig on order, so when it comes in, will be wanting to recover these files to the new rig unless I can get a different drive scrounged to get the old rig up and running temporarily.

So, if they go on the new rig, would be going from WinXP Home edition to Win Vista Premium Home edition (64 bit). If they go back on the old rig, will be WinXP again.

Try:

Documents and Settings<user>\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook\outlook.pst

If not just search for any file with a .pst extension.

Thanks, just wanted to make sure that I wasn’t missing something obvious. From the Documents and settings folder, I just copied the entire user folder. Shouldn’t miss the email from there now should I.

i would also look for *.ost
