Treated myself over the weekend and bought a new amp / reciever and a new Sub to go with it. Got a Sony STR-DH800as it has all the bit’s and bob’s whistles and bells I wanted, to go with it I got a Kef 2500sub.
This is the first time I’ve ventured down the road of getting a seperate amp and sub, before I’ve always plumped for a package type deal, I’m replacing a Sony HTK250. I’m impressed, the sound is good, well, I’m still using the HTK 250’s speakers but the sound is so different it’s amazing. Now I have to wait for the bank/wife to say I can start looking for speakers.
I really like Sony surround amps, still running the STR-DE400 here and no complaints. If I was to nit-pick it would be nice if it did HDMI switching but as the Playstation is no more that’s no biggie.
I like my Sony system from a long-long time ago, I’ve become a bit of a fuddy-duddy about wires though now and I’m waiting for a decent wireless setup to be affordable so I can place the speakers exactly where I want them
I like the Cambridge Audio range but my CA 640a amp is stored in the back room as I’m using my Onkyo TX-SR605 A/V amp with a Cambridge Audio Azur 740c cd player with Mordaunt Short 916 floorstanders and 905 center, next perchase will be either a Gemini II or XLS200 subwoofer from http://www.bkelec.com/HiFi/Sub_Woofers.htm
