Non-Booting ? TOP-TIP

If your PC shows the classic symptoms of a PSU problem I have a TFW-Labs approved work around to get your PC booted.

This applies only to the situation where you power up, the fans spin briefly then the PSU shuts down.

  1. Unplug every power connector except the Motherboard
  2. Power up and let it finish griping about no hdd etc
  3. connect everything up while its live
  4. hit the soft reset and watch it boot

I have no idea why my PC does this, spent £65 on an Antec truepower and it still does it. The above method got things running at Mojos last weekend and the one before that. I was blaming the Ebuyer cheapo PSU but a posh one is no better.

This shows that it doesnt get switched off very often

Just be very careful when plugging things in…killed a hd, cd-rom and floppy drive over the years doing that.

Yeah, but if I’ve lugged a PC 170 miles and it doesn’t work I’m more than willing to sacrifice hardware if only to make me feel better
