A virus.
A second…or the same one as I had the other and not removed by Avast. Well my own fault for downloading a suspect file.
Because it’s failed me know a couple of times, what do people recommend? AVG always annoied me and I’ve seen the stupid crap it adds to Firefox and IE now so that’s out.
Ideally I would be using this PC only for gaming but that’s not an option currently so AV it has to have.
some viri are removed by some AV, some by others - you’ll not find one with 100%.
It’s most likely that avast is finding the virus in a restore point, as some of them cunningly make one - disable system restore and then run a check.

Restore has been disabled since I’ve had the PC as I never use it.
I’ve got Avira free now as it’s been recommend by a few friends.
NoD32 has always been 100% in my experience.

Super anti spyware and the NEW avg is good. IMO
I use a mix of differnt antivirus here in the house… currently on the laptop I have AVG on the media centre we have avast and on the dads machine we have AVG nice good mix and as all my files sit on the media centre and are also backed upto the dads machine atleast the files get scanned by both antiviruses 
I recomend paying for Kasperspy now… AVG let me down badly and kasperspy was the only one that installed and dug that pc out of the whole AVG had pushed it down :chuckle:
