I thought the forums were supposed to be self-moderating…? We don’t want to have to start chopping illegal stuff from the BB, you shouldn’t be posting it in the first place :nono:
I’ve had to PM a member recently to politely ask they re-word their thread regarding illegal copies of software and I felt a complete shit for having to do it. But the law is the law and we can’t be seen to allow this sort of thing.
And before anyone else says “well, what about [such and such] thread” - for fcuk’s sake we do our best to watch every little post that runs on these forums but we can’t police everything. If you want us to run these forums tighter, you can bloody well rescind your rights to self-moderation. It’ll mean we mods will have to spend more time on the boards and less time with our families… but if that’s the way you want it I’ll see what I can do.
Your other alternative is to stop the mentioning of illigal trades - stick with the common sense guys, do you want us busted 'cause some disgruntled ex-member or A.N.Other team member could certainly cause trouble 
Sometimes I have a really bad day but I’m careful not to let it spill over onto the BB but this takes the piss…

If you get your thread locked or deleted it’s hardly surprising. In fact the mods have been more than lenient & I’m surprised they’ve let what has been posted to remain at all.

I’m sorry you feel that way and since it was me that was responsible for both actions then I’ll give my reasons, say my piece and take TFW’s advice while a course of action regarding my thoughts is decided.
I decided to ban said ‘humourous’ account after receiving 3 complaints inside 5 minutes of it’s innapropriateness from the widest possible cross-section of members (founder, new and visiting) and having already voiced my concerns about it to the rest of the mod team.
Regarding tonight’s thread closure - one of the forum rules I linked to regards copyright breach and both sites linked to have previously had to remove material from their content because of copyright breach. I thought I made myself clear with my comments in closing it and the sad smilie.
As regards the personal insult, I was not aware of it until after several other people had tried to calm the situation and since one of them was riddler with a follow-up message to the perps I chose to to let it lie.
To other concerns that have now been raised - it has often been commented that these forums are darn near self-moderating but a line has to be drawn somewhere. Concerns over persistent references to P2P software and ‘leeching’ have been raised on a number of occasions but none of the threads have actually specifically mentioned the sharing of copyrighted material nor linked to it (to the best of my knowledge), tonight’s thread did both (IMO).
That said, if anyone feels that TPR’s forums are becoming more like “the old place” as a result of my actions then please voice that in the Senate and if anyone agrees thenI will have no hesitation in tendering my resignation since I don’t want that to happen to our virtual home.
