The moral of that story is, when putting in screws, always use a clean hammer in case your thrumb gets in the way.

Heh, sounds about right 
Well, basically he had a tiny cut, in a few hours became infected, and it went a funny colour, so he had it checked out. They admitted him, and said he needed surgery to save the thumb, and into surgery he went. Gulp! A couple of hours later his kidneys failed, he has a bowel obstruction and oedema (fluid on the lungs), so he needs dialysis, but they can’t do that until they shift the infection.
So poor chap is on a respirator, all tubes and stuff. Catch 22. Cheers guys, my lass The Bear, will be visiting him this evening, so I’ll keep you updated.

Update.
The Bear (my missus) went to visit him with his mum and dad late last night. He’s chatting up the nurses, which is good, and lucid but has lots of drips, and tubes up his nose and stuff. Passing on your regards. Bear says she managed to grab a quick look at his BP, Oxygen levels, heart rate and Breaths per min, and she says normal. Oh, and he’s going to kill me when he gets out. That’s cool

Ye-up. He’s been discharged I think, but he’s quite breathless. I’m told he just wanted out. His parents are keeping a close eye on him, which I suspect will drive him nicely bonkers 
Not sure at the moment whether he’s at home or at parents. Update when I have more info, unless he posts first.

Hi folks, thanks for the prayers im ok now i’m a diabetic and plays havoc with my immune system, so the infection went round the body pretty quick, spent four days in I.C.U. with more canulas than u can shake a stick at.
Glad to be home.
