Program to share files over the Internet to a friend

I want to share a folder of files with my sister across the internet, ideally so she can browse through and queue what she wants, a torrent wouldn’t really work like this, what would?

I remember using some sorfware at tpr meets that was quite good in that you could stop the server and when you fired it up again the clients would see it and pick up again automatically but can’t think what it was.

at the meets we used DC++

sounds like a prime usage for Dropbox though

But with dropbix I’d have to move the files online and not sure what she wants. I just want to “share” the folder and let her pick.

Ah yes, dc++. I will take a look at that. Have just read about an opera extension that look interesting in that the client only needs to use a web browser.

Yeah that’s not bad.

I used to use WASTE at uni. Think that was to share with binlala at one point.
benefit of waste was that it doesn’t need a server - DC++ requires a server to collect data of the hashed files, whereas watse just allows you to connect (from memory)

Waste looks interesting

I get Internet back next week, I’ll have a play then.

SSH / SFTP / FTP server on your rig, then an SFTP or SCP client at her end
