RedHat 9 and VNC

Right then chaps, 20questions time, part2

VNC into a redhat machine from a windows machine. Now I have got RealVNC on my windows, so installed the RealVNC rpm and now have a link to the redhat machine.

What options do I need to set to get a “pure” VNC session straight into the machine? At the moment I get just a single terminal, which is not what I want to do. As the loft is hot I want to enter new MAC addresses for new diskless BEFORE I go up to the loft as its mighty hot up there. Plus I want to be able to monitor the diskless machines as well.

modify .vnc/xstartup and change"twm &" to “exec gnome-session &” then restart vncserver

nah, ssh mate and cli only

Ah well you want X apps to show on your Winders box, Exceed or Reflection is the ticket, Nice for Bindconf and such.

I’ve configured a “full” vnc connection to a “full” remote access. Basically I get a normal redhat screen of desktop :1 with VNC, means I can alter all the LTSP configs in the comfort of downstairs before going to the sweatbox that is my loft
