shared calendar

Right.

At my church we have four machines - all running Windows XP and office 2003. They run a calendar for room bookings but it is currently done by multiple people sharing the same logon id.

I have been asked to make it more secure.

So what we really need is something that will allow us to share a calendar across multiple users each using their own logon ids, but each able to amend the calendar.

Is this possible without installing Exchange?

We are on a shoestring budget and have very limited technical support (me!), so either someone will need to spell it out in idiot terms or be very generous and help me out.

TIA.

I’ve set something up before just using free software.

and

For the websever/mysql db.
All pretty easy to set up and works well.

google calendar works pretty well, can highly recommend it

DT.

I was going to suggest Google calender as well. Dad’s office use it to share room bookings (for the meeting room) and to keep other informed of the partners work schedule etc.

Aye, an elder at a church I know uses Google calenders 'cause he’s able to sync it with some freebie software with his Sony Erikson phone too.

If they must use Outlook then they will require Exchange Server. I have also seen people using a shared drive, and one PST file…but ouch if it goes down…!

You could use Office Live maybe for this also…but Google would be my lowest cost solution! You could get Small Business Server setup pretty cheap also…
