Some very sad news, P51 Mustang

After looking to find out why a user hadn’t been online on here or in the online games he played so much, last night I received a Skype message in response to a message I sent a while back.

My dad Darin passed away in July

There was more to the message, but I’ll keep that to myself.

Darin Eugene Billing, 43, passed away July 12, 2010 at his home in Bismarck. Services will be on Monday, July 19, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the Bismarck Funeral Home. Visitation will be on Monday one hour prior to the start of the service.
Darin was born June 1, 1967 to Eugene and Jolene Billing of Beltrami, MN. He graduated from Fertile Beltrami High School in 1985. Was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church, Beltrami, MN. He worked on the family farm until 1991 and graduated from NDSU with a degree in Agricultural Engineering. He worked for the State of North Dakota Health Department as an Environmental Engineer until the time of his death.
He married Shelly (Holden) on August 3, 1996 in Rapid City, SD. They had one beautiful daughter together, Taylor Mischele, born February 12, 1998. Darin was an avid fan of Nascar and loved antique airplanes, camping and spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his loving wife Shelly and daughter Taylor at home, mother Jolene, sister Tammy (Dean) Smith, grandparents, Alfred and Adelia Ehlert, mother-in-law Mryna Holden, sister-in-law, Lisa (Rod) Becker, brother-in-law, Todd (Cristie) Holden, his nephew and nieces Mariah and Austin Smith, Sydney Becker and Destinie Whitmire, and he was loved by many aunts, uncles and cousins and will be missed by all.
He is preceded in death by his father, Eugene Billing, grandparents, Ruth (Billing) Allen, Rudy Billing, Clifford Allen, uncles, Orelin Billing, Sherman Billing, Cal Bradley, Jack Webster and Aunt Bonnie Webster.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

Some will be aware, that prior to the username P51 Mustang, Darin was one of the few members to use his real name on the forums. Unfortunately he was then subject to a bit of a campaign that meant he became “P51 Mustang”, after the his love of planes mentioned above.

Darin played many online games, and was the highest ranked player for TPR in SpacePioneers and had played in many games from the start, KingsOfChaos all the way through the TPR history of playing online games. I still chuckle when I remember the avatar he had under his real name forum account

There are some SETI units still being returned on his account
Home | BOINCstats/BAM! looks like 7million will be hit soon.

From a quick google, https://secure.mdausa.org/donate/ seems the be the mentioned charity in the obituary.

P51 Mustang, aka Darin Billing - you have been missed the past few months and will continue to be missed. RIP, :tiphat:

It does make you take stock of what was so far, just a wet Monday morning commute.
Maybe its not such a bad day I’m having.

The Avatar still makes me grin though, Thanks for that Darin.

Got the news from DT, very sad, poor beggar was younger than me…

A valued team member, he’ll be missed.

Remember the name well and his contributions here will not go forgotten.

Rest in peace Darin :frowning:

So sad to hear about Darin’s passing.:frowning: A great loss to all who knew him and my condolences go out to his family. I didn’t know him that well, but I enjoyed our strategy chats when playing Ogame and the like and he was a great contributor to the projects he was a part of in TPR. Sad news indeed.
