Stanford Servers are Acting Squirrely

My GPU3 client has been saying “No work available” for the last day and a half. Others are reporting issues with the uniprocessor and GPU servers on the Stanford forums. My SMP client is still working, but it’s been chewing on a WU for over a day and a half so it hasn’t tried to get a new WU since these problems appeared.
Stanford FAH Forums: “Failed to get assignment: Empty work server assignment” Thread

My version 7 client has been getting both SMP and GPU WUs without problems during that time, although it will be an hour and a half until the next GPU WU is downloaded, I’ll update then.

They created a new thread specifically for GPU clients and moved my post to there.

Here’s a sample of what’s been happening to me since yesterday morning:

[23:00:57] + Attempting to get work packet
[23:00:57] - Will indicate memory of 8190 MB
[23:00:57] Gpu type=3 species=20.
[23:00:57] - Connecting to assignment server
[23:00:57] Connecting to http://assign-GPU.stanford.edu:8080/
[23:00:58] Posted data.
[23:00:58] Initial: 0000; + No appropriate work server was available; will try again in a bit.
[23:00:58] + Couldn’t get work instructions.
[23:00:58] - Attempt #19 to get work failed, and no other work to do. Waiting before retry.

Still no problems with V7 client, GPU and SMP WUs downloading and crunching with no problems.

I have pulled WU’s at 9:18, 9:28 and 12:10 today with no issues. [v7 client, all smp]

Turns out I was using the ancient GPU3 client instead of the current unified client. Adding a GPU instance to my unified client solved the problem.
