I’ve been considering this for a while, a thread similar to what annoyed me today, and what cheered me up today - two threads which seem to attract regular comments
I often read, see or hear about events which - to put it mildly - make me wonder if I am on the right planet. Things that seem so appallingly stupid, so agonizingly insane, so sodding out of touch with reality, that I want to opt out of the human race and take my chances as one of those weird purple crawling things with lots of legs and antennae at each end.
Todays example:
A friend at work has a son (12 ish) who uses Facebook, and he started a group called Gingers Not Welcome.
Apparently a parent saw it and brought it to the attention of the head … who immediately contacted the police. They in turn arrested and cautioned the young lad, then said no further action will be taken - adding they also need to caution those who have joined the facebook group.
What a waste of time and resources. Maybe I could understand it if there were threats of violence and foul abusive language, but come on, kids doing what kids have always done … give me a break. A patient chat from the head explaining societies aversion to anything remotely classed as ‘victimisation’ would have done the trick. Involving the police is overkill of the worst kind.
If I reacted with a police complaint every time somebody commented on my grey hair or bushy eyebrows I’d never be out of court.
So, lets see just how crazy this world of ours has become. I want to see things like cycle lanes in cul-de-sacs, a ban on sharp scissors in hairdressers, Olympic athletes being advised not to shake hands because of the risk of contacting disease (oh, already been done), shops that can’t sell a pair of laces to someone under 16 … you know what I mean, it’s all out there somewhere, honest.
ding ding next stop please :sigh:
You must be thinking about things like having to be 16 to buy christmas crackers because they are an explosive.
Or only being able to buy two items containing paracetemol but there is no age limit so technically a 2 year old can buy them :Oh-hum:
Wolram, when you get elected to president on that new planet the very first thing you need to do is setup border controls.
There may be a rush to emigrate to Wolly-World
I always hear of stories like that and pass them off as nonsence and hearsay… it’s crazy when there is truth to the story, Especially when there are other issues that are more important to involve police with.
I was speaking with someone recently who runs a charity in an area of Swansea with a high young mum % of the type that has a child to get a house and then the only thing they know how to do is continue with having kids to continue the benefits. And he was saying the amount of times they call the police for incidents and police seldom turn up…Maybe because they are all busy filling out paper work for a Facebook group that excludes Gingers is the reason
But to be it in to contrast a few months ago there was a shady character checking out the houses around my girlfriends parents house (very nice part of Swansea,*YES there are a few nice area’s) and we called the police to let them know (not 999 just the local police station) and it was less than ten mins that 3 marked police car’s and 4-5 plain clothes police had filled the area looking for the guy
completely ruins your faith in the police service…
And the worrying thing is that the school I work at isn’t in the best area of Swansea… how long would it take them to respond to me if I had an emergency? luckily its been a few years since the last time we had any sort of violence here… but still
I agree stop the world I want to get off too!
in true Brit stylie - lines up in an orderly queue
I think this cock-up is worth a mention …
Aviva Investors sent an e-mail by mistake on Friday dismissing its entire staff before retracting the message, according to reports.
The e-mail, which was sent by Aviva Investors’ human resources department to 1,300 employees globally, was really intended for just one recipient.
human Resources LMAO
But Aviva HR have been idiots since at least 2001 when we sued their arse off for victimising a member of my team for ill-health issues.
Dismissal by email ?
What a cretinous way to treat a member of staff.
Aviva wont see any more car insurance from me, just a V
