Supposed to be having a new car today

Was due to pick up a new car today. The one I have bought has a private reg on it. I’ve waited 10 days for the dvla to put this reg on retention. Had a phone call from the dealer this morning to say the paper work had been rejected because of an error on it  Now I have to wait another 10 days

Feel like telling them to stick it

Bad luck Deaky. It’ll be worth the wait to drive around with your own plate :). Not worth going for a starndard, then transferring because of the fees and insurance admin costs.

The reg is on the new car. The seller of the car wants to keep the reg. Thats what is holding things up

inevitable question… what car, your old one wasn’t too shabby

:Pimp:

ohh… nice

isn’t a private plate on that a little pretentious? the car says you can afford it. the private plate may be a bit too much?

(just my 2p)

You mean to tell me that you can’t just go to a dealer, sign the loan papers and drive off in your new (or used) car?

Please excuse my ignorance

AFAIK as well curufin here you can (mind I’ve only ever bough one car and that was second hand so a quick signing of a change of ownership forms, change of money and it was mine. Cant remember if I drove home uninsured mind.)

I think Deaky’s problem here is the current car has a personalised number plate and the current owner wants to move the plate onto his new car.

:hail:

Nice car.

Blimey!
Another BMW pretending it can go off-road
:chuckle:

Nice motor but you can’t get 6 DAF YA-328 tyres in the back of that.

I can only just get the kids in the back :uhh:

Looks like delivery this Friday if dvla sort themselves out :xfinger:

Are you getting excited now? I know i would be!

Still doing a good job of not thinking about it m8. I’m expecting some dick from dvla to balls up the paper work again. If this does happen I won’t be too dissapointed. We’ll se what tomorrow brings :xfinger:

to be fair to DVLA, they downsized a couple of years ago and got rid of older staff through early retirement. everything is now scripted and computer-driven with kids earning £11k, so any unusual circumstances hit a brick wall.

Just had a call from the dealer. He has spoken to dvla who have confimed that the neccessary paperwork will be ready for collection tomorrow

Guess I’ll be up early then :nanasplit: :driving:

:woot:

Take it easy in that Deaky

You see that’s the problem with taking it easy :Poke:

Now if he had been more hasty and planted the gas peddle to the floor that truck would never have got close enough to hit it in the 1st place  :chuckle:

:Poke:

Enjoy the motor Deaky (Not to my taste) but looks a cracker non the less.
