Over here we’re referred to as the Darkside because of the nice Star Wars theme they have going here, there’s nothing malicious in it and we take it in good spirit. Recently relations between OcUK and TPR have been pretty good even with the recent defections, could you please try not to stir things up
Oh and for the record one of the reasons that people at OcUK took a disliking to you was not because you were ‘too enthusiasic’ rather that you showed a complete lack of tact on multiple occasions and seemed to go out of your way to cause disharmony. A trait which you have demonstarted AGAIN with this thread.

Like you say, relations have been good of late between OcUK and TPR and hopefully they will continue so. If a member wants to swap Teams either way, it’s fine by us… at the end of the day it’s the SETI project that benefits regardless of who you crunch for.
Oh, and OcUK is referred to as the Darkside purely 'cause it’s the only time we manage to use the :vader: smilie

I’ll reiterate what has been said before. Things have been pretty quiet between the two teams of late. Let’s not stir things up please.
And for those that are reasonably new to either team and didn’t know. TPR was originally formed by a renegade group from The Dark Side [:vader:]. riddlermarc and I were even the moderators for OcUK seti at one point before the formation of TPR. As such, we are all more than aware of how OcUK operate their forums. Their rules are simple, if you don’t like them, just don’t use the board, no point in getting all worked up over it. Life’s too short.
I read this thread and see a number of people have had unkind things done or said to them in other forums. I’m sorry this has happened to you. Fortunately, there is no place for it here. I have been a member of TPR since November or so. This is my first and only team so I have little idea what goes on elsewhere. From what I see, I’m not going to read those forums to find out.
Just to echo what riddlermarc and mincer have said, I don’t want people to get the idea that I dislike the OCUK seti team, far from it, I have plenty of people on the team that I speak to regularly. Kaiowas sometimes even nips up to yorkshire for a beer or two. The fact that I like the team members so much is the reason why my 10k of previously crunched wus still resides at OCUK, because I owe it to the Seti team.
So in short, please don’t anyone have a pop at the ocuk team members, the forums perhaps, but since Spie takes zero interest in Seti nowadays, the Ocuk bit of the Ocuk team name is pretty much irelevant.
I’ve said it before and I will say it again that the fact is, there has never been a problem between team members of TPR and OCUK. Any problems have purely revolved around one person and we all know who that is. That is why anyone from OCUK’s forums are welcome here at anytime whether it be as just visitors to our fine forum or if they wish to join the team.
Anyways, I always thought that TPR was formed because of Mincer having a particularly worrying fetish for Ewoks These small green Jedi Masters are weird folks

This man speaks the truth. Never been a problem.
What I will say is that the atmosphere over there has certainly changed in recent times. What it’s down to, I don’t know, whether it’s the winding down of SETI@Home, changes in the rules (some absolutely necessary), defections, leavers, or whatever, but it’s certainly different.
Also I’d like to put on record in my opinion, the banning of Riotstar/Pamplemoose and others for what was contained in that thread was absolutely uncalled for. Also uncalled for were some of the comments made within the thread. They should never have been made as far as I’m concerned. Either EVERYONE should be entitled to their opinions, or NO ONE should be entitled to their opinions in my humble opinion. There was no need for any bans.
I for one am seriously considering whether I bother crunching with BOINC (which I don’t like the look of at all), or whether I get to the 10K (assuming there’s enough time) and just cool down my crunchers.

From my viewpoint OcUK SETI and OcUK forums are not one and the same thing. For me, SETI here is about the team spirit of the active members within the team confines, and should best be untainted by politics and opinion elsewhere.
