Does anyone know how to allow unsigned drivers for Vista 64 Home Premium? I know it can be done in the Business editions & Ultimate using gpedit, but this is missing from the home versions . The option is also missing from the boot menu (pressing F8 when booting).
Seems I need to allow unsigned drivers to get VMWare working in Vista 64…
In the release candidate there was the option to allow unsigned drivers on the session you were booting, if you pressed F8 on bootup :p.
I don’t know the registry entries to change the signed driver settings, and haven’t been able to find them with googling! I know it’s possible to change it to ‘warn’ or ‘off’…
I think the solution in the guide to getting VMware working is a little more eloquent… i think i’m right in thinking it does the same thing but lets you know that the driver is unsigned
Start > gpedit.msc > User Configuration > Administrative Template > System > Driver Installation
Double click on “Code Signing for Device Drivers”
Enable it, then move the box to warn (or ignore). I have mine set on warn, but I am assuming if its NOT configured, then it auto blocks unsigned drivers by default.
Seems stupid to remove such things to me, especially for a ‘premium’ version. I have to find an alternative workaround for every workaround….
