What’s the position of the above. If I spend ages clearing out a load of viruses after a System Restore has been done, would those viruses return if the system is rolled back to its previously state when the infection was there?
If so, what’s the best way to stop this happening please?
Yup - some viri and most malware will be back after a system restore I’m afraid.
When I clean out systems, I switch off restore first (which wipes it) clean up, then switch it again and save a restore with a comment on the restore explaining what I’ve done… not had a problem so far :xfinger:
I thought it might be the case, so I turned it off anyway. I think I’ve rid the lappy of them all now.
The hardest one to get rid of was the virtumonde adware nasty. Kept getting ads even though the pop-up blocker was on. PCTools Spyware Doctor was the only tool that found and destroyed it in the end. Used RegCleaner to clean up any reg traces after and so far, 3 scans with AVG and SD no trace of the devils. :xfinger:
