if i want to upgrade a os from win2k to xp will i lose all the files on the hdd ?

Not necessarily. But you should have backups of documents, pics, mp3s etc just in case. Might be worth creating partitions on the hard drive and storing data files separately. You should still make a backup though.

I’ve just bought a DVD writer so I can backup my whole “D” partition. The whole partition has 12gig of data on it, but there are a lot of game files stored there as well.

Yeh. backup.

My experience of switching Windows OS’s has been positive. Always gone smoothly.
Doesn’t mean I trust it tho :slight_smile:
