OK, so how many want to play?

me me me i want to play!

Windows Vista is the most secure and trustworthy Windows operating system ever!

That’s not saying much is it!

I do

IWE wanna plaryt plxz

I can’t ley you play with my version… but you might be able to get your own… http://connect.microsoft.com

There are 32 and 64 bit betas kicking around if you want to have a fiddle…but thats all im saying.

They might be but there won’t be more to follow, each time a beta tester downloads software from Microsoft their beta ID is hard coded into the download and therefore into the OS, when microsoft find a copy floating round the net they have the tester banged to rights. Thay have been doing this since the beginings of testing XP I think, or it may have been the end of testing 2000.

Ahh, i was thinking someone is taking a bit of a risk leaking it tbh, i wouldent want to be on the worng side of MS solicitors

the technical bits

DT.

I have it installed under Virtual Server on my 2003 Server box, it runs like a dog if given < 512MB allocated ram unsurprisingly :stuck_out_tongue: I haven’t had time to really evaluate it yet, something for those rainy days soon to come I fear

well from looking at it specs wise to get it runing brilliantly youll need 4gigs of ram and dual xenons…done some pricing for a rig to run it brilliantly and its looking at 2000-3000 quid but thats with no vat :open_mouth:

That is just stupid. Doesn’t gates realize that no one will go there easily!

think of the power supply you would need to run the bloody thing :open_mouth: and also dont forget the rumours that to get the full potential you need a new 400quid+ crt :open_mouth:

I think ill be sticking with xp or well see how this suse is now when I do a dual boot in the next half hour

I’ve got it installed on 2 machines at the mo, my main rig (dual booting) 3000 x64, 1 gig, shuttle, it’s nippy, and on my 850 p3 lappy with only 512, even on that it’s easly useable, it’s not going to be as snappy as 2000 which is what it had on it before but it’s deffo useable.

didnt say it wasnt useable but I said it wasnt going to work as good as it should unless you have those specs ;)

Had it for some a while now…month or so…(I’m a MS Partner). Works fine on 1G ram…on AMD XP2000. Yes a little slower then say XP or 2000 but lots going on under the hood…security and drive/indexing wise…It’s ok…but not for anyone to really play with unless you have time…to play and not really use for daily grind…Been testing my apps…they seem to run fine…but again I’m sure MS will work more on the issues of memory…I think the spec goal is 512Meg and 2Ghz range is a goal but, more is better always!

With it I’m sure within weeks I’ll break it…just like I broke XP years ago…got to love buffer overflows…LOL!

So if you have time and extra box give it a go…Oh one other thing…get a good graphics card…my older ATI stuff sucked until I changed it for faster…I think the rendering engine is in need of tweaking…!!!
