I had something similar in the back of my car for years (plastic case) - we called them acoustic couplers - 300 baud start stop protocol - but including a line in jack to take input from a cassette tape recorder to fool terminals that there was a computer on the other end in order to separate line or device failures.

Ah!! The good old days :smiley: My first modem was a 24k baud rate in the 90s and just would not connect. Can’t remember the make, but it was beige. :smiley:

Still looks faster than my 3G dongle when the signal is bad :smiley:
