Im using one. Very quiet. My rig isn’t overclocked so I dont know how good it is in that respect. It is quite large and needs plenty of space around the ZIF socket to fit. You mobo must also have those mounting hole’s in

heres the story, i have a socket A board whose cpu fan is dieing on me, so i am looking for a quiet alternative. im running a xp2000 so any recomendations would be great, i dont want to spend a fortune tho…
I have the all copper version of that, used it on various Athlons from a t-bird 1400 up to XP2600. It works ok as long as you’re not expecting low temps. This is a “good enough” type heatsink at low noise. The mounting is by a single clip to the CPU socket, so you don’t need the mounting holes on mobo.
The ones I had from Zalman require the mounting holes, and they work pretty darn good. Of course it is hard to tell when you ambients are so high like mine were.
It will NOT fit without the mounting holes. There is no clip on the heatisink. You have to screw two aluminium bits to the mobo then the h/s screws onto them

Note it fits by clip to the socket. No mobo holes required. You need some height around it, but due to the base it doesn’t take much space around the socket so nothing to worry about nearby components.

I had a flower one before this. Overall I was happy with it. The only problem I had with it was no matter how tight I fixed the fan bracket to the pci cards it caused the case to vibrate, hence the cooler above.
edit - Mackerel is correct. The cooler clips to the ZIF socket so you don’t need mounting holes in your mobo.
Im prolly coming up to Mojo’s tomorrow. You can have my old flower if it’s any good for you. Its the all copper version though
