Any spare GPU power available - Nividia only

We’ve gone up another couple of places… And RAC wise we are in the top 100, so with a bit of luck we will keep on climbing.

I ended up turning back on the long run WUs. They don’t actually take as long as BOINC says they will, and the credit return is unbelievable. As much as I hate to say this, I believe this is one of those projects where the project credit has been jacked up way out of proportion in order to attract crunchers. Take a look at my stats and you’ll notice the two giant spikes. Those are one long run WU each. I actually feel bad about this. Not so bad I’m going to stop crunching of course, but it’s like taking candy from a baby. Really tasty candy.

GPUGRID award bonuses on their credit for the quick return of results, which is one of the reasons for the higher credit. They also have short deadlines, and a limit on cached units.

The amount of credit awarded isn’t obscene, unlike other projects such as Collatz Conjecture.

I beg to differ on the obscene part. My single GTX460 is now accounting for 82% of my daily RAC. It’s beating out two quad cores, two dual cores, and a logical dual core combined. My RAC went from 10,000 to roughly 56,000. That’s one hell of a bonus!!

Edit Don’t take this as a complaint. I like points.

You should see the primegrid forums. They’ve been adjusting down their GPU credits and suffice to say the credit hunters are not happy… believe they were one of the highest awarding nvidia projects until that started.

There was a discussion about credit on the Rosetta forums regarding their returns and how they were perceived as a low credit application. Turns out they use the default credit provided by BOINC. What this tells you is how badly many of the other application servers have been tweaked. It’s also arguement for a true, uneditable, standard for credit. The biggest showstopper was finding a real definition of “work”. Is it sheer return time? Is it flops? Many good discussions with no conclusive answer.

Just been doing a date projection for reaching 10 Mill on Docking and GPUGRId and at current output levels I will reach that target within a week of each other!!!

Another interesting stat is it took me 6 years to reach 6 million combined, the next 6 million has only taken me 12 months!!!

Found an EVGA GTX460 on Fleabay for a decent price so that will be joining the GPUGRID cause.

Right on!

GTX460 has arrived and is currently crunching it’s first unit…

Waiting for my 1090T to arrive then a motherboard swap is in order and my GTX550TI will be back crunching as well.

Bit of an update… TPR have now got into the top 150… :wiggle:

I’m now running a GTX460 and a GTX550TI… The GTS 450 has been retired and sold and I managed to get back what I paid for it…

Hmm… it’s nearly cold enough again I might fire up the GPUs as well as the CPUs.

Congrats to Egad for 1 Million!!! :trophy:

We are steadily progressing up the rankings - and are currently #146

Excellent crunching Egad!! :trophy:

Thank you!

Well, in just a touch over 3 months we have risen from #165 to to #140 and we are still rising!!!

Another team stomp is imminent and I will be passing the 5 million mark shortly… Watch out Mortlake you will be getting :stomp: within 10 days with my current output!!!

Decided to only run long tasks on my GTX460 and it’s RAC is still rising towards 80K per day!!!

Onward and upward!!

Decided to try a long WU on the GTX550 and it managed a Long “Nathan” in 12.5 hours… so might try it on long WU’s only for a few days and see how it goes… it should be able to complete even the longest ones within 24 hours to get the full bonus!!!

Top 100 is definitely achievable even with only 2 or 3 of us running GPUGRID.

I’m doing a GPU challenge on Primegrid ending later next week. I’ll switch back after that and will see what I can add… I will probably need reminding!

460 completed a unit last night, http://www.gpugrid.net/result.php?resultid=4675178 doesn’t seem to affected my mini push leaving hte machine on Docking
